Calder Lodge School are very proud to sponsor the Garstang womens touch rugby team. They competed in a recent tournament at Lytham rubgy club sporting Calder Lodge sponsored shorts. They were up against multiple teams from across the north of England made up of both men and women and had a great day of Rugby.
Today, the brilliant Bleasdale Class swapped their usual classroom for the exciting workshops of Longridge High School – and what a fantastic day they had!
First up: Pencil Holder Project! The morning kicked off with a hands-on challenge – making their very own pencil holders. The children listened carefully to instructions and got to work using real workshop tools. From the belt sander to the drill, glue gun, and even the laser cutter, they showed real skill and focus. They worked with materials like MDF, plywood, and chipboard – sanding, constructing, and joining each piece to perfection. The highlight? Watching the laser cutter etch Longridge High School onto their personalised pencil holders!
Next: Noughts and Crosses Challenge! After a quick break, it was time for round two – making their very own noughts and crosses board. The children measured, cut, sanded, and glued their game boards and pieces. Every step involved careful teamwork, attention to detail, and plenty of creative thinking. The finished games looked amazing – and we’re sure they’ll be playing them for weeks to come!
Building More Than Just Projects… As well as developing their design and technology skills, the children also made fantastic progress with their social skills. They worked in pairs and small groups, practising clear communication, teamwork, and even conflict resolution when they had different ideas or needed to take turns. It was great to see them supporting each other and showing real maturity in how they solved problems together.
A Huge Well Done! The pupils showed fantastic teamwork, excellent listening skills, and a brilliant attitude throughout the morning. They tackled each task with enthusiasm, helped one another out, and had loads of fun along the way.
The staff at Longridge High School were super impressed – and we couldn’t be prouder. The children are already asking when they can go back!
Great job, Bleasdale Class – you nailed it!
