Welcome back to school for the summer term! We hope you had a refreshing break and are ready for an exciting final term of the academic year.The summer term is always a busy and rewarding time filled with key milestones, outdoor activities, and celebrations.

Hello and welcome back, Bleasdale Class!  I hope you had a lovely break. I’m excited for the summer term and all the fun learning ahead.  We’ve got lots to look forward to, including outdoor learning, creative activities, and special end-of-year events.  As always, feel free to get in touch if you have any questions.Please remember that you can follow our adventures on our school Instagram page as well as our website https://www.calderlodge.school

DON’T FORGET……If your child has any medical appointments, please inform school in advance where possible – you MUST send a copy (either hard copy or a picture by email) of the appointment letter/card/text to school for our register.If your child is absent due to illness, please telephone school before 8.00 am and leave a message. Your child will not be collected for school until you inform us that they are well enough to return.

PARENTAL REMINDER

Please can sun cream be applied to children during the summer months. It would also be useful to bring a sun hat in for playtimes and trips. During the summer months children can wear shorts, but they MUST be plain black/grey or school shorts – no sports motifs. 

CURRICULUM 

Areas to be covered – Maths – multiplication and division, length and perimeter. English – Myths and poems. DT/Science – Digestive System and Teeth and Scientific Enquiry. A&D – Journey Sticks and weaving.  History – learn about the changes in living memory.  PE – striking and fielding. Geography – Climate zones, physical features. 

CULTURAL CAPITAL

Looking back on our outdoor learning experiences at Holmes Wood and Billy Bob’s during the summer term, the pupils enjoyed a range of exciting activities that were filled with adventure, teamwork and fun. 

At Holmes Wood, they enthusiastically took part in Capture the Flag, prepared journey sticks and worked together to cook delicious food over the fire, including bean dinners, sausages, bacon and s’mores. 

During our visit to Billy Bob’s, the children thoroughly enjoyed the giant slides, zip lines, rope swings, foam pit and outdoor play areas, while also recording their thoughts and experiences to inspire their diary writing back at school. Both experiences were hugely successful, helping the children develop confidence, resilience and practical skills while creating lasting memories with their friends and classmates.
